Cedar, Lebanon

The Lebanon cedar, or Cedrus libani, originates from Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey and exhibits remarkable tolerance to cold temperatures.


  1. Appearance: This evergreen tree features branches that extend in broad, horizontal layers, and is covered with gray bark.

  2. Foliage: The dark green, sharp needles of this tree are moderately sized, averaging around 1 inch in length.

  3. Cones: The cedar produces cones of an intermediate size.

  4. Size: While capable of reaching over 100 feet in height in their native environment, Lebanese cedars usually grow to a height of between 40 and 60 feet.
